Who am I?

Nadine Violette is an educator and SSHRC-funded researcher based in Toronto, ON.

Nadine is currently a PhD student in Social and Political Thought at York University and holds a Masters of Arts in Social Justice Education from the University of Toronto (OISE). Their dissertation research explores the relationship between education, violence, and social change— the history of communist education and re-education, from the classroom to the prison, in relation to questions of freedom and justice. While their regions of interest include Russia and China, they are especially concerned with the cross-pollination of radical movements across the world, and especially in anti-colonial and anti-imperialist liberation struggles.

They are a copyeditor of The Vermin – a critical magazine dedicated to centering the marginal and periphery, as well as a contributor at the New Brunswick Media Cooperative.
